[30 Day Challenge] Day 3 - 10 Things You Hate About Lolita

Today's topic of for the 30 Day Lolita Challenge is "10 things you hate about lolita". Now you may be thinking that there is nothing that a lolita enthusiast like myself could hate anything about lolita, but there is some things that I absolutely do not like.

The stigmatism behind the term "brand whore". A brandwhore lolita is someone who thinks that brand lolita is the only acceptable lolita garment, and anything else is "wrong". There are plenty of lolita who choose to dress in only brand, but do not have this mind set. I hate that it is automatically assumed that any lolita with a wardrobe full of brand looks down on those who own offbrand.

I hate when socks are advertised as over-the-knee but barely cover the knee.

I hate how judgemental the community can be. I've heard so many horror stories of lolitas teasing other lolitas for their weight, height, alternative life styles that I really have had no desire to attend any meet up.

I hate bonnets. I think they look good on the models and other lolitas, but I think they are dumb.

I hate when lolitas that cannot afford brand try to make those who can feel guilty.

 I really dislike the ero-loli sub-genre.

I hate the term "Ita". Ita is a term given to fledgling lolitas by elitest lolitas because they think they are wannabes. Everyone starts somewhere.

I'm not a fan of the rocking horse shoe.

I really hate how the stereotypical lolita bang is the straight across, push broom bang. In my opnion it looks bad on everyone.

What I hate most about lolita is... How much I love it! Lolita is something that I put a lot of my money into and takes away from my hobbies such as cosplay and my video game let's plays.

A lot of the things I dislike are community based, and I hope that I didn't trigger anyone. I am always open to discussions if any of you lovelies want to talk lolita "politics".

[30 Day Challenge] Day 2 - 10 Things You Love About Lolita

Today's topic in the 30 day lolita challenge is "10 things you love about lolita". This one might end up being more like a list, but I guess that's the point?

① I love the fine details of lolita. The simple lace used in the corset back of a jumperskirt, the pin tucks in a blouse, and the removeable details on some garments just to name a few. If you look closely at a garment you can see how much time in effort was spent on the design and the construction. These are things I can appreciate being a seamstress myself.

② This may sound super cliche but I love the way lolita makes me feel! When I wear lolita I feel invincible, like I'm wearing armor. My convindence rises, as well as my self esteem. I feel the most beautiful while wearing lolita. It's such a magical feeling.

③ I love that lolita despite being an over the top fashion can be tonned down to casual wear.

④ I love that most print series are released with jewlery that match the theme. I'm a little bit OCD so having things that match in a set make me happy, ha ha!

⑤ Though most lolita is styled after rococo fashion, I love that designers have been branching out and embracing other fashion periods such as the 1950's and victorian era.

⑥ I love jumperskirts. They are my favorite lolita garment!

⑦ Though typically marketed to women, I love that there are male fans that brazenly dress in the fashion.

⑧ I love that when I see other lolitas at conventions or just out and about we excitedly great eachother and fawn over eachother's coordinates.

⑨ I love that lolita is branching out from being just a fashion but into beauty products as well. You can find false eyelashes specifically designed for lolita, and definitely false nails.

⑩ What I love most about lolita.... Lolita! I konw, I know, it sounds super lame but I just love the fashion so much!

I don't understand why talking about specific things I love about lolita was so difficult! What are some of your loves of lolita?

Thanks for reading, lovelies! ☆彡

[Fashion] My Favorite Autumn/Winter 2013-14 Lolita Fashion Trends

I have been an abide follower of Lolita fashion for the last 11 years, and I still approach the fashion with the same breathless excitement as I did back then. Now as a fully fledged Lolita I have been trying my best to keep up with all the current trends. Here is a list of some of my favorite trends this seasons!

Angelic Pretty Day Dream Carnival series tights
Tights, tights, and more tights! This is my ultimate must have in every Lolita wardrobe. All of the top Lolita brands have at least one pair of printed tights in this season's collection, not to mention all of the options you have from independent designers like Holley Tea Time. Whether you're a sweet Lolita, Gosuloli, or classic, there is a pair a tights for you!

Innocent World Braided Short Jacket

Military styled garments are a *HOT* trend this season in the fashion world. Just like you'll see a military styled jacket from Michael Kors, you'll see it in Lolita collections too! Alice and The Pirates has an edgy military coat in their A/W collection, and Angelic Pretty has such a large variety of outer ware that it's no surprise this coveted Brand has a couple military inspired coats to choose from.

BTSSB Looking for Baroque series

The art history nerd in me was absolutely gushing looking at this seasons prints. There is something so elegant about a tasteful frame portrait on a dress. It brings a sort of mature elegance to any style of Lolita. Some of my favorite frame beauties include Angelic Pretty's Musee du Chocolat series, and Juliette et Justine's La Cadre du Chat.

Atelier Boz Sphingan Ford long wool coat
There's something so cozy about a fur trim coat, or a fur muffler during the winter season. That's why I am obsessed with all the coats, and jackets this season. Looking through the collections of some of the top Lolita Brands, their fur trim is detachable on most of their coats. This is a fun feature that is fairly common in Lolita fashion and offers endless combinations through it's versatility. Not to mention you'll stay extra warm and comfy while looking adorable chic.

What are some of your favorite Lolita trends this season?
